Just a decade ago the thought of a group of young, trendy woman playing bingo was laughable and unheard of. Why would a group of trendy young girls want to spend their Friday night in a smoky, dark bingo hall playing bingo with OAPs when they could be out spending their hard earned cash on the latest designer clothes, or in a nightclub in town? With the meteoric rise of internet Bingo sites, thousands of woman (within all age groups) are now spending their free time eagerly anticipating the word 'House' appearing on their flat-screen computer monitors. They are drawn to the websites from the star-studded adverts appearing on nearly every single advert break in the evenings, inserts in the newspapers and flashy internet banners offering free cash to play with once they have signed up. The promise of huge jackpots to be won every day also does nothing to dissuade young women signing up to internet bingo sites.

It is not surprising to see why there are so many companies offering online bingo services today. One major online casino reported a 33% rise in overall sign-ups just three months after they introduced their online bingo hall. The site in question is heavily marketed towards woman, and it features in popular magazines and on television breaks for programmes of particular interest to women.

Nearly every single online bingo site comes with it's own chatroom where you can talk to friends old and new while playing your cards, all from the comfort of your own home. With declining attendances to traditional bingo halls, mainly due to the recent smoking bans, players can still create the same atmosphere in front of their computers and catch up with the latest gossip or talk about last night's TV. From a consumers perspective, the best bit is that all this is achievable without them having to get dressed up or having to find a babysitter for the night. New friends are made and social networks expanded, all while waiting for that one lucky number to be called. What does the future hold for online bingo? Is it just another fad?

About the Author

With so many online bingo sites currently in existance, surely they can't all continue to succeed and draw in the punters? The aforementioned site has introduced their own 'Bingo Agony Aunt' and are building their own community of horoscopes, news and articles to ensure that they keep one step ahead of the competition – at last count there were around 500 major play to win bingo websites listed on Google.
