Heart Disease effects more than 1/3 of all Americans. In 2003 almost twice as many women died of cardiovascular diseases (both heart and stroke) than from all cancers combined. More men and women of all races die of cardiovascular disease than any other diseases in people age 35 and older. An estimated one million Americans die of cardiovascular disease each year. Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) includes dysfunctional conditions of the heart, arteries, and veins that supply oxygen to vital life-sustaining areas of the body like the brain, the heart itself, and other vital organs. If oxygen doesn't arrive the tissue or organ will die.

Symptoms of Cardiovascular Disease include chest pain or chest discomfort, palpitations, dizziness or lightheadedness, loss of consciousness, fatigue, and shortness of breath.

Risk Factors for Cardiovascular Disease include heredity (if your dad or brother had a heart attack before age 55 or your mom before 65 you're more likely to develop heart disease), advancing age, smoking, high blood pressure, diabetes, lack of physical activity and high cholesterol.

In order to prevent developing this horrible disease you should watch your diet, cholesterol, high blood pressure and exercise regularly.
