Search engine launches financial channel with stock quotes and business news.
As the search engine inches closer to its goal of releasing all of the channels planned in their expansion, SpivO (http://www.spivo.com) announced today the launch of SpivO Finance. The finance channel on SpivO.com offers business and stock market news along with a simple stock quote system.
The stock quote system is an easy to use and “no frills” solution for users looking for quick market data and a small chart. Plans for integrating a screener and other useful investing tools are in the works but SpivO’s Jack Thomas doesn’t believe they should be top priority.
“SpivO Finance, like all of the new channels, is based on our philosophy of simple data delivery. Its main function is to provide basic market data to SpivO users.” Jack Thomas continues, “We will someday include features like a market investing simulation service where investor’s can invest in real stocks with a simulated solution to test strategies and improve their actual investing skills. However, with our goals currently focusing on getting all of our channels launched and the home page rebuilt, we won’t be making SpivO Finance upgrades a priority until later on this year.”
SpivO reported a small traffic downturn in March which is believed to be due to missing two channel launch deadlines. The last channel to be launched was SpivO Movie Times in February.
In spite of statistics, SpivO doesn’t show signs of concern as SpivO’s managing company, Adviatech Corp., (http://www.adviatech.com) stated, “…we have not yet begun marketing the channels individually as separate resources. Once we target market each channel, SpivO will show the signs of growth predicted. At this time, we’re focusing more on getting SpivO’s general awareness increased.”

Movie show times are available once more on the search engine.
Movie Times Channel (http://www.spivo.com/movies) launches on search engine, SpivO. The search engine offered the service a year ago but took it down for their renovation. The new movie times channel has a faster response time and a cleaner data display layout.
A new feature in the move times listings is the ability to watch a movie trailer of most movies listed on the show times menu. While the feature does not yet depend on SpivO Video, (http://www.spivovideo.com), plans for including movie trailers from the networks internal “YouTube” like channel, will be available in the near future.
A halfway step to that goal is going to be the cross linking into SpivO User Video Search which allows visitors to search for videos in six different viral video web sites including Google Video, YouTube, and other popular sites.
SpivO’s Jack Thomas explains that “We want to cross link as much relevant data as possible within our network. So many of our channels compliment one another that it will only improve the user experience if we can deliver as much relevant content to each individual user as possible.” Relevant content delivery is one of SpivO’s primary goals as they work to achieve simplicity with their content delivery.
The new Movie Show Times channel easily accesses show times for any zipcode in the United States. SpivO is currently working on a plan to include Canadian and European postal codes in the database. SpivO’s goal in the upgrade has been to include as much relevant content as possible to attract domestic users in the United States and North America. The objective seems to be a success as January 2008’s statistics show 89% United States visitors and February’s show 86.5%. Data from Alexa from a year and a half ago listed nearly 40% of SpivO’s traffic as coming from India, a market that does not provide value to SpivO’s current advertisers.

The Encyclopedia channel was originally launched in 2006 but was taken down for the SpivO upgrade.
SpivO’s Encyclopedia channel (http://www.spivo.com/encyclopedia) is back online today with more information, clearer delivery, and plans for integration into the search module. The SpivO Encyclopedia gets information from the Wikipedia project and SpivO has not expressed any plans for changing that.
In recent weeks, once all of the new channels are launched, SpivO will start a campaign encouraging users to contribute to SpivO’s content providers like Wikipedia, ChefMoz, Dmoz, and other services that SpivO depends on for content.
SpivO’s objective is not to rebrand other provider’s content as their own. In fact, any content that is delivered from a third party source and even the technology used to integrate it is fully credited on the channel. It is SpivO’s goal to provide all of the web’s best content side by side with SpivO’s exclusive content and resources in an environment that allows users to read the content without having to jump from web site to web site.
That is what SpivO’s Jack Thomas calls “The center of the internet objective. We want all of the internet’s best, useful, content to be delivered through SpivO. Of course, we also want to bring our own new content to the web and delivering that next to the content of other sources is what makes SpivO such a valuable resource.”
SpivO’s Encyclopedia channel was behind schedule for the launch (like all soon to be released channels) due to the disconnection of SpivO Mail, which was taken offline by their former server management group after the popularity of the service exceeded the capabilities of the servers. SpivO Mail is scheduled to go back online next week.

The Weather resource on SpivO is now live. SpivO Weather is the first channel to be launched in almost two weeks.
As SpivO’s team of technical experts work around the clock to get the SpivO Mail service back online, the search engine’s ability to launch the new channels has become a little off schedule. In spite of that, SpivO has now launched SpivO Weather.
The SpivO Weather channel (http://www.spivo.com/weather) offers a graphical weather outlook of any region after the user types in a postal code or city name. The channel utilizes data from the Weather Channel’s Weather.com database.
In an effort to add an additional benefit for the SpivO users, SpivO Weather users can use the interactive SpivO Weather, based on the same technology used in the interactive SpivO News channel.
Weather video feeds are streamed into the channel and updated twenty-four hours a day with video news reports from local news channels across America and national weather reports from sources such as the Associated Press. SpivO’s Weather resource is completely new to the SpivO Network. The network did not have weather information until this year’s upgrade.
SpivO’s Jack Thomas explained, “We like creating new channels with useful information or innovative concepts. However, there are some services, like weather information, that visitors just expect from an online resource. I feel like we’ve integrated necessary content in a clean, simple layout with moderate graphical enhancements.”
Currently, the weather information must be accessed from the weather resource but SpivO does have plans to integrate the information into other locally targeted channels like SpivO Movie Times (scheduled to launch this week) and the SpivO search engine.

SpivO Mail encountered fraudulent users over the weekend which resulted in excessive server load. The free email service is now operating more efficiently.
In its first month online, SpivO Mail, the free email service on the SpivO.com network, encountered a minor glitch. Over the last month, SpivO’s fraudulent users have been kept at bay thanks to SpivO’s obsessive account behavior monitoring and their system for detecting fraudulent emails. More prevalent than spam, fraud emails are considered a greater threat on the network because they are attempts to defraud people out of money.
The most common scam is the promising of a large sum of money do to a foreign diplomats death, an offshore lottery, or other difficult to trace scenario. While most online users are aware that such sums of money will not be offered to them by email, the con artist still defraud millions of Americans out of thousands of dollars because of this scam.
SpivO was prepared to deal with such users by implementing a security scan that runs all day on the server seeking mailing behavior similar to the scammers and spammers. The system finds users with an accuracy rate of 99.8%. Upon detection, the user’s IP address is banned and their account is deleted. SpivO Mail now goes a step further by emailing all of the scam recipients to let them know about the scam and reveals the IP address of the user to include in their IP blocking compatible spam filter. This process often times takes place just ten minutes after the first scam email is sent. Information that SpivO Mail now proudly displays on their home page.
Over the weekend, SpivO Mail encountered another type of unwanted user which they call a leach. Leaches generally register multiple accounts to store [what is often] hacked movies and software, a practice SpivO Mail has a zero tolerance for. The excessive data transfer from non compliant users slows down the SpivO Mail service for those users whom use the 1GB email account for business and personal use.
Vice President, Jason Bland, of SpivO’s managing company, Adviatech Corp., was actively involved with the clean up effort over the weekend. “What is most important to us is that we are providing a simple, efficient, email service for all of our compliant accounts. When we confirm a red flag, I want that user banned, deleted, and our database wiped clean of their existence. They don’t further our cause at all and are simply not welcome to use our service.”
SpivO Mails fraud detection system allows them to scan behavior without compromising the privacy of their compliant users. While SpivO Mail expects this to be a continuing battle, Jack Thomas of SpivO explains, “This system of ours is extremely efficient. And when someone wants to spend hours emailing themselves one to five gigabytes of information, they are simply wasting their time. We delete these accounts immediately upon confirming their activity. Honestly, it costs us the same amount of money to fight twenty fraudulent users a day as it does to fight a thousand negative accounts each day so while the problem might grow as our popularity increases, we are ready.”

( 3.3 / 188 )SpivO’s KCove auction has been replaced with the new SpivO auction channel.
SpivO launched their new SpivO Auction channel. The channel integrates auction listings from eBay as part of SpivO’s effort to integrate large amount of content into the SpivO search engine.
In 2006, SpivO acquired KCove, an online auction. When planning SpivO’s renovation, the technical and marketing committees debated over whether to keep the auction channel or offer a different solution. Ultimately, they decided to close the online auction, KCove, and run content directly on SpivO.
SpivO’s managing company, Adviatech Corp., was actively involved in the planning for the former KCove channel. Adviatech Vice President, Jason Bland explains, “SpivO’s mission is to get new content onto the web when possible and bring the web’s content to SpivO when its not. We want SpivO to be an all inclusive site that allows users to search through various resources and eBay is certainly a huge resource.”
The SpivO Auction channel which is also integrated into the SpivO Shopping channel accesses eBay listings which can be browsed within SpivO or searched for in the SpivO Search Engine.
SpivO’s Jack Thomas commented on how he believed this would benefit SpivO users. “When someone is shopping for something, you can do them the greatest service by giving them access to the most content as possible. The resources needed to build a self standing auction were simply out of the budget and showed little promise of profitability. We believe the new SpivO Auction concept is a better benefit to the SpivO user.”

SpivO launched the restaurant guide on their search engine today.
Today, SpivO Search announced their restaurant guide channel offering over three hundred thousand restaurants and over one hundred thousand reviews. The restaurant guide allows users to browse states and cities to find a restaurant of their choice.
The restaurant guide on SpivO also integrates with SpivO’s search engine. Now that the restaurant and dining guide is online, the new channel will soon integrate with other SpivO channels such as the soon to launch SpivO Movie Times and SpivO Weather. The search will be integrating relevant channels as the applications and user feedback stabilizes.
SpivO’s Jack Thomas explains, “Some channels share similar genres. For example, our restaurant guide is relevant to movie times and weather because it attracts an audience that is going out for an evening. Our video search engine has relevance to our image search engine and audio search engine. In time, we will have all channels integrated so that the SpivO user can search all relevant channels from the one relevant channel.”
Thomas continues, “We believe that our users will appreciate the simplicity of being connected to as much relevant information at once. Also, this integration will allow our advertisers to get the highest return on their investment because we are connecting them with a much larger relevant audience.”
The restaurant guide like SpivO’s original “dining guide” is integrated with the ChefMoz project. SpivO encourages all users to submit content to the ChefMoz project as that furthers the information provided by the SpivO Restaurant Guide.

( 3.1 / 157 )SpivO’s Classifieds channel was launched today allowing users to link to their web site and include images in their listings.
The classifieds channel was originally launched in 2005 as a member based free classifieds channel. In an effort to increase users, SpivO has eliminated the need for membership in several of their channels. First, they allowed anonymous article submissions in SpivO Articles and now they allow non-membership classifieds submission.
SpivO will prevent spammers from using the script by requiring an email verification process. Users familiar with SpivO Classified’s previous model will more than likely notice the simplicity of the new system.
SpivO’s Jack Thomas explains, “When we were looking for a solution for the classifieds channel, we were seeking a new simple design. Previously, we had categories and sub categories in colorful boxes and somewhat of a complicated user interface. The new SpivO Classifieds is simple, easy to read through, and easy to post an ad.”
The primary focus of the search engine is to get as much content as possible. Therefore, they intend on keeping channels like SpivO Classifieds, SpivO Articles, and other channels dependant on user content free of charge. The increased profitability of the debt free search engine is a responsibility that falls in the hands of SpivO’s managing company’s (Adviatech Corp.) Vice President, Jason Bland.
Bland explains, “If someone is looking for something; be it a product, resource, video, or information, we want them to find it on SpivO. We’re not interested in profiting from the users that fuel SpivO with content. We want a large, loyal user base that uses our targeted channels of interest. The way we attract that audience is by offering a large amount of content. So for now and into the far future, SpivO Classifieds will be a free service for buyers and sellers.”

SpivO announced the launch of their newest channel today, SpivO Games.
The SpivO upgrade has focused on many business related channels such as the web search engine, article channels, news, and news video searches. However, in an effort to attract a younger audience, SpivO announced the launch of SpivO Games.
SpivO Games (http://www.spivo.com/games) was one of the first interactive channels placed on the upgrade’s drawing board in 2007. The addition of an online arcade is what they believe will lower their average age demographic.
SpivO’s Jack Thomas explains, “One of SpivO’s missions is to build an online network which has a channel for every interest. We spend so much time on business and education channels because that’s what attracts the advertisers and a large portion of our user base. However, it is also important to pay attention to the younger demographics. Everyone needs to kick back and relax for a few minutes throughout their day.”
An important focus of SpivO’s planners is to bring as much content to the network as possible. SpivO Games is certainly not any different. The online gaming channel of SpivO boasts a game collection of over three thousand, five hundred (3,500) games in categories such as action, arcade, fighting, puzzles, racing, classics, sports, and others. When the channel was being tested by SpivO’s beta group, they were surprised to see which online games were the most popular.
Vice President, Jason Bland, of SpivO’s managing company, Adviatech Corp., said, “We have some really intense games available on SpivO Games such as racing, boxing, sports, yet the most popular category in testing was the retro category which has all of the classic arcade games and the mid nineties computer games. When we saw the statistics, we knew that SpivO Games was going to be a success because the audience that can relate to those games is the exact demographic we are hoping to attract.”
Like all of SpivO’s channels, their online gaming channel is an evolving one. As the user base grows, SpivO will open up a game suggestion panel. They also have plans to launch games that are exclusive to SpivO Games.

( 3.3 / 168 )The shopping channel on the SpivO search engine is live with thirty new stores.
SpivO’s newest channel launched from the upgrade is SpivO Shopping, a price comparison web site that allows users to compare prices of thousands of items from hundreds of online stores. A beta version of the shopping channel was launched last year in the SpivO Workshop, but it was not finalized until today’s official launch.
The SpivO Shopping channel, like most of the new channels to be released on the new network, is based on simplicity. Since 2004, when SpivO became a search engine, they have tried various ideas for improving the profitability potential of the search engine. During 2007’s renovation meetings, the profitability of the search engine was under guidance of SpivO’s parent company, American Marketing Management and Motivational Services, Inc., SpivO’s technology management company, Adviatech Corp., and Adviatech’s fifty percent shareholder, Jason Standard Corp.
Adviatech held the final decision authority on where to position ad space. SpivO’s revenue is generated from ad impressions on their interactive news channels, commission compensated advertisements from retailers and service providers such as iTunes, Sirius Satellite Radio, and Movielink, job postings on the soon to be launched SpivO Job search, hotel, rental car, and flight bookings on the soon to be relaunched, SpivO Travel, advertisements from SpivO’s direct sponsors, Google Ads to supplement un used ad space, and credit card applications.
Adviatech’s Vice President, Jason Bland, worked closely on the project’s technical and business planning objectives. Bland commented today “It’s a fragile balancing act of simplicity, clean page styles, and profitable ad placement. We carefully weighed out the pros and cons on what to do with SpivO Shopping. Ultimately, we decided that our focus should be on bringing product content into SpivO Shopping to display the most relevant ads. We are not ready, at this time, to pursue a business model similar to Shopping.com which allows store owners to upload product feeds and pay per click.”
The SpivO Shopping database is made up of internally selected product feeds. To learn more visit http://www.spivo.com/shopping.
